Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Few days ago, I decided to get out and start getting everything ready for Easter.
The best part of Easter at our home is dyed eggs with natural dyes. Yes, natural dyes without chemicals and safe for allergy suffers.
If your favourite colour is robin’s egg blue, you are in right place. The magnificent turquoise can be produce by red cabbage. You won’t believe how easy it is to until you try.
Firstly a few tips for beginners:
- choose the brightest eggs
- the brighter the shell is the darker colour you will get
- once the eggs have dried, you can wipe them with a cloth soaked in olive oil.
What you need:
- red cabbage
- 4 tbsp. of white vinegar
- 1L water
- Large pot
Let’s do it!
Start by roughly chopping a head of red cabbage. Put the cabbage in a large pot with 1l of water. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 20-35 minutes. Add 4 tbsp. of white vinegar. Place the eggs in a pot. You have to wait as long as you wish. The longer, the stronger colour you will achieve. At the end wipe the eggs with a cloth soaked in olive oil, thanks to than you will have shiny eggs!
